SOT at Valley Baptist coming up

In 2009 Travis and Patty Arnold of Russellville, Ar received an email about an
atheist in Michigan who successfully got two small crosses removed from a town.
In protest, hundreds of people began to place crosses in their yards making their
opinions known. The Arnolds were so touched by the story that they made a small
cross, placed it in their yard and offered one to a neighbor. When the neighbor
accepted they made more and gave them away. The requests for crosses began
pouring in. the Arnolds have given away over 1000 crosses and their goal is to
have a cross in every yard in Russellville, Ar. and eventually a small cross,
the symbol of faith for all Christians in yards throughout the state of
Arkansas.

In mid December 2010, Saint Paul United Methodist Men decided to make crosses
and give them away to anyone who wants to display this silent symbol of
Christian faith in their yard. It is hoped that other churches throughout Searcy
will join in this endeavor so that the entire city and outlying area will be
covered with symbols of our faith.

Guys, we will have some of these crosses available when you leave the meeting
at Valley Baptist Church. As you go out the door guys will be there to give you
one. They are free for the taking we only ask that if you take one you put in
your yard. We give thanks to Saint Paul United Methodist Men for the crosses and
this wonderful opportunity to witness our love for our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. God Bless

Location for the next SOT & menu

Hey Guys, we are now two weeks away from our next SOT meeting. We are going to
be at Valley Baptist Church in Searcy. Valley Baptist is located on Hwy 36 West
you can't miss it. They have a very impressive facility which will be a great
place to have our next meeting. We have met with Pastor Hays and his staff and
we are excited about worshiping there. The men's group is planning a wonderful
meal that is especially good for men. The menu is Pork Bar-Be-Que, potato salad,
beans, cold slaw and a dessert. We will then go into their beautiful sanctuary
and worship with a blended worship team from different churches. After worship
we will have a couple of testimonies from guys at Valley. If you came to the one
at Downtown you remember us talking about bringing with you a non-perishable
food item. This will be given to the Good Samaritan Mission for distribution. We
will have receptacle at the entrance of the dinning room for those items. This
promises to be one of our biggest meetings so far, there sanctuary will hold 550
so lets try to fill it up. If you are planning to come please let us know by
just hitting reply and give us a number of how many. God Bless

SOTat Downtown CC

This was my first SOT and I came away filled with the Spirit. It was an amazing
service and to see Godly men from Searcy was awesome. I talked to Sid about a
potential program from a future SOT, I work with a group called HOPE Outdoors.
It is a Non-Denominational Faith based group that takes disabled and critically
ill children and adults hunting and fishing, it is a great organization and we
are always looking for volunteers. I have some YouTube videos I could share
with SOT and our local President leaves here in Searcy and his son Joe Parsons
could come and give a testimony. Check us out at www.hopeoutdoors.org. I hope
to present Hope Outdoors to SOT in the future. Please feel free to call me
501-230-2129.

Thanks for making SOT great,
In Him,

Comment to SOT Downtown CC

John,

You are so right: there was an overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit amongst
the men who attended the Sons of Thunder meeting last Tuesday. When men begin to
fall to their knees in reverence to God and lift up His name, the Spirit can't
help but be there. We are on our way to bigger numbers of men wanting to be part
of this movement. I thank my God for you and others who envisioned this and made
it come alive.

If I may be as bold to suggest a potential event: 1,000 Man Strong Day that
could be held somewhere in Searcy. We could set a date out in the future and
advertise this event for central Arkansas. Talk it up and spread the word. I
think we could get that many people to attend. Lots of logistical issues but to
use the title of a song, "I Can Only Imagine".

Blessings to you my brother! May God continually shower down on you His grace
and mercy!

SOT at Downtown CC by John Byrd

Hey Guys, just a few thoughts about last night at Downtown. It was a very
special evening with Guys who love their savior Jesus Christ. We had right
around 400 men who experience the overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit. We
started out with a very savory meal of Red Beans and Sausage and rice with corn
bread and cake. The worship led by the men from Downtown was wonderful. All the
speakers and the men who gave testimonies were spirit lead. Speaking for
everybody who was their I can't say enough about how the men went out of their
way to welcome us to their wonderful church. The spirit of unity for the love of
Jesus from all churches around was very special. We had around 45 churches
represented at last nights meeting. I personally can't wait for SOT to go back
to Downtown. For those who were not there you missed one of the most powerful
Communion service that I have ever experienced. The sharing of the personal
prayers and the Lord supper at the tables was awesome. So now that I have made
those that were not able to come feel bad here is the good news we get to do it
again February 8th at Valley Baptist. Pastor James Hayes extended the invitation
last night and said that they are excited about us coming to Valley. Start
spreading the word about next month and lets continue to do our part lifting up
our Lord Jesus Christ. May God continue to bless you and yours.

What it took for the meal for u guys

John .. Let's not plan to get over it, but to build on it and see where God will take us! WOW ... what a night!

Gene -- the recipe is:
40# of red beans
30# rice
35# diced bell peppers
40# chopped onions
1 fully cooked & diced ham
40# cajun sausage
1 1/2 minced garlic
some secret seasoning -- hey, I was afraid to ask
several big pots and a really funky spoon duct-taped to a 1x4 to stir
a bunch of crazy guys that want to serve
.... well you get the idea
BTW ... you may want to cut back on the quantity for a family meal!

Love you guys! ~ Tom
